In our plant, the pressure difference in the atmospheric distillation column operates normally at 40 kPa. Over the past two months, this pressure difference has started to increase gradually during operation. By reducing the pre-cooling water and lowering the reflux flow rate, we were able to bring the load back to normal levels; this situation could be maintained for about half a month. Now, however, it only lasts for a week before adjustments are needed again. One solution is to divert the product stream to the crude alcohol tank in order to keep the atmospheric distillation column functioning properly. We’re not sure what the cause of this problem is Please give me some advice. The first two images in the figure below show recent abnormal operating conditions, while the last two show previous normal operating conditions.

Check whether there is a problem with the instrument. I’m not sure what type of distillation tower you have at home, and without knowing its internal structure it’s difficult for me to give an opinion
Is it a combination of a plate tower and a packed tower? High pressure certainly leads to an increased load on the liquid phase; in which aspect is the product not up to standard? Water content or water solubility, pH level?
It could be: 1. Poor quality of the crude alcohol, with an increase in paraffin; 2. Damage to the distillation column trays (packing) ; 3. Low extraction of fusel oils ; 4. The distillation tower has a high load.
Identify the location where wax accumulation is severe, as this can lead to high resistance in the gas-liquid phase; it is recommended to drill holes to check the condition of the trays and packing !
