In a plate tower, what does the liquid layer thickness h at the top of the overflow weir refer to – is it the thickness of the liquid that lies above the overflow weir, or the thickness of the liquid layer on top of the tray? What is the typical range for this value in practical operations?
It can be approximated as = volume of liquid phase processed in the tray / length of the overflow weir
