In wet desulfurization for coking, the injectors in the desulfurization tower get clogged roughly once a month. Are there any good solutions?
Many plants have experienced injectors getting clogged by sulfur foam. In some plants, it is the nozzles that are blocked; in others, it is the throat tubes. In yet other plants, even the air intake is blocked. This is caused by the excessive viscosity of the sulfur foam. Tannin aqueous solutions, especially those with high concentrations, are typical colloidal solutions. If tannin is added without being thoroughly thermally dissolved or activated in a strongly alkaline solution, the large size of the tannin molecules and the high colloidal strength of the solution will cause the resulting sulfur foam to become highly viscous and clogging. When the liquid flow rate through the injector is low, the sulfur particles present in the rich liquid gradually adhere to the nozzle orifice, the inlet of the throat, and the inner walls of the gas chamber; over time, the accumulation of these particles increases until they eventually cause blockage. When this occurs, the only options are to remove the injector for cleaning or to introduce steam through the air intake for steaming treatment. Preventive measures should aim to reduce the colloidal nature of the desulfurization liquid; this is achieved by installing a tannin hot solution tank or a pre-activation tank, equipped with directly heated steam coils and air coils ; Desalinated water or desulfurization lean solution is first placed in the tank, after which a predetermined amount of Na2CO3, V2O5, and tannin is added according to the specified ratios ; Open the steam valve and air valve, introduce steam and air to raise the solution temperature to 80°C, allowing the chemicals to dissolve completely ; Heat-dissolved rosin gum can be activated in 1 hour at 80°C, while raw rosin gum requires 3–4 hours of activation at the same temperature. After being treated with heat in a concentrated alkaline solution, the tannin molecules in chestnut gum degrade, resulting in tannate ions that are almost completely dissociated; this causes the gel particles to shrink and loses their colloidal properties.

Do you use tower-type regeneration or low-tower jet regeneration? Where is it blocked? Because the causes of blockages vary depending on the location, each issue needs to be analyzed individually. The original poster’s analysis is reasonable but incomplete. What you mentioned is desulfurization by glue bonding, while titanium-cobalt-cyanide desulfurization is different.
It could be a problem with the quality of the injector or its installation; you can seek help from a manufacturer specializing in injectors
