Dear teachers: I am seeking help regarding an instrument for measuring the chlorine content in the exhaust gas at the exhaust outlet of the waste gas scrubber in a vinyl chloride plant. A range of 0-20 ppm is required, with an alarm set at 3 ppm. The process medium is 95 vol% N2; 5 vol% CO2, H2, O2, etc.
You might want to inquire about Focus Technology’s infrared or laser analyzers; I used them many years ago
Lasers cannot be used for this purpose; currently, only a few companies that work in the ultraviolet range can do it, but it seems they are not confident enough when it comes to 3 ppm levels
