As shown in the figure, 1 is the feed line from the reflux tank of the next distillation column to the reactor of Distillation Column I; 2 is the line for transferring material from the bottom of the next distillation column to the vapor phase of the reboiler in Distillation Column I; 3 is the line from the feed heat exchanger of Distillation Column I to the vapor phase of the reboiler. What is the function of these 3 pipelines? Why are pipelines 2 and 3 connected to the vapor side pipeline of the reboiler rather than its liquid side pipeline?
3 is the gas phase; is your feed in the gas phase? Also, is line 1 gas or liquid? It’s not clear at all. How many trays does the tower have? How many trays correspond to the feed inlet?
