The alkali washing tower has three sections with alkali solution and one section for water washing. Sampling analysis showed that the concentration of sodium hydroxide in the weak-alkali section was 3%, while that of sodium carbonate was 0.5%; the designed concentration of sodium hydroxide is supposed to be less than 1%. Sampling analysis also revealed that the carbon dioxide content in the gas coming from the top of the alkali solution tower was 8 PPM, whereas the designed value is less than 1 ppm. I’m confused – what could be the reason?
What about the temperature of the alkali washing tower, the inlet and outlet temperatures, and the concentration in the strong alkali section?
The inlet of the alkali scrubber is at 48°C, with a strong alkali concentration of 10%
For the strong alkali section, as for temperature, it is recommended to increase the circulation volume in each section appropriately to enhance the adsorption effect
The concentration is fine, what about sodium carbonate? Increase the circulation volume appropriately
Or, the amount of carbon dioxide at the inlet can be measured to compare the adsorption efficiency
The circulation volume increased by about 10%, but there was no significant effect
In that case, it’s a problem with the components of the raw material; there’s no issue with the alkali scrubber. It is recommended to analyze the carbon dioxide content in the raw material before it enters the alkali scrubber
