The first lifting of the methanol scrubber for the purification unit of Phase 1 of the Guangxi Huayi Qinzhou Chemical New Materials integrated complex / Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemicals / Date: 2020-07-12 / Clicks: 73. On July 10, a ceremony was held to carry out the first lifting of the 4,000-ton crane-mounted methanol scrubber as part of the purification unit for Phase 1 of this complex. It is reported that this tower is the heaviest and tallest tower equipment in Guangxi Huayi Industrial Gas Island project; after being fitted with its external components on the ground, it has a height of about 100 meters, a diameter of 4 meters, and a total lifting weight of around 900 tons. The methanol wash tower is the key equipment for removing acidic gases in the methanol production process; it is the most important tower in low-temperature methanol washing. Its purpose is to remove hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, and carbon dioxide from the process gas, ensuring that the purified gas meets the requirements of downstream products. The Guangxi Huayi project team of Tianchen Company carried out thorough planning and coordinated the work, successively completing tasks such as the construction of equipment ladder platforms, thermal insulation for the equipment itself, installation of lighting fixtures, and application of anti-corrosion coatings. On March 10, 2020, China National Chemical Corporation Tianchen signed a general contract for the engineering of CO separation and compression units for a syngas comprehensive utilization project with Guangxi Huayi Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. This project is another turnkey project carried out through the collaboration between Tianchen and Guangxi Huayi Energy Chemical, following the industrial gas island purification units and CO separation units. It is reported that the project contract for the CO separation and compression unit was Tianchen Company’s first domestic EPC turnkey contract signed in 2020. On March 1, 2019, China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. signed a general contract for the construction of purification and CO separation units for the gas island project with Guangxi Huayi Energy Chemical Co., Ltd.; the value of this contract exceeded 1.3 billion yuan. Tianchen is responsible for the design, procurement, and construction of all aspects within the plant area, including processes, general layout, static equipment, dynamic equipment, pipelines, civil engineering (structure/architecture), instrumentation and automation, electrical systems, telecommunications, HVAC systems, water supply and drainage systems, HSE measures, fire protection, as well as analysis and testing services. It is also in charge of all tasks from individual unit tests and mechanical completion up to the intermediate handover of the project, and provides technical guidance and support during commissioning trials, startup trials, and performance evaluations. The second-phase light hydrocarbon comprehensive utilization project has a total investment of around 20.8 billion yuan. The project is centered on ethane cracking and propane dehydrogenation as its key processes, and it will produce products such as polyethylene, ethylene glycol, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), acrylic acids and esters, polyether polyols, caustic soda, and polyvinyl chloride. Construction is expected to begin in 2019. The main plant area of the project is located in plots 25 and 26 in the Qinzhou Petrochemical Industrial Park, to the south of it. The third-phase methanol-to-olefins and downstream processing project has a total investment of around 18.3 billion yuan; it will produce products such as polypropylene, polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate, caustic soda, and polyvinyl chloride. Construction is expected to begin in 2025.
