We have 2 spares here, and both of them are broken; we can’t do the cutting
If emergency repairs can be carried out, adjustments can be made in a short time: reduce the reaction rate, increase the reaction depth appropriately, shift the thermal load associated with distillation upward, stop the re-refining process as well as the flow back to the second column; adjust the operating conditions based on the liquid level at the bottom of the column. If prolonged reaction interruption is necessary, I believe every company has such plans in place.
The reaction significantly reduces the processing volume, slowing down the rate at which the slurry floods the oil and gas pipelines; it is necessary to find a way to start the slurry pump immediately, and if the pump cannot be started in a short time, the feed should be cut off
This issue has been discussed before; you can search for related topics on the forum! We have a connection line between the slurry pump and the re-refining oil pump, which can be activated in emergency situations. It has been in use for over 20 years, and it has been activated only once!
First, report to the scheduling and department supervisors: it is necessary to reduce the processing volume for the time being, control the liquid level and temperature at the bottom of the towers using re-refining and the first control tower; meanwhile, fix the slurry pump as soon as possible to restore slurry circulation. Over a long period of time, it can only be handled as a feed cut-off accident.
