Regarding the shaft bearings of the balance disk in multi-stage pumps, there are a main thrust bearing and a secondary thrust bearing – how can one distinguish between them?
What you’re referring to is probably the thrust disc, which serves to position the shaft. The thrust bearings in our family’s units are the same for the main and auxiliary ones; your description isn’t very clear.
Classified according to axial force. Under normal operating conditions, the side to which the axial force is directed is the main thrust side. In centrifugal pumps and similar devices, the main thrust bearings are located near the inlet side, while those of turbines are located near the inlet and outlet sides
