What is the function of this ring on the side of the impeller that is not the inlet side? Can it be canceled? Thank you!
Is your impeller quite large? It can’t be removed, right? It’s supposed to be used to control the gap between the back of the impeller and the pump casing.
It is used for inter-stage sealing; if it is a single-stage impeller, this ring may not be necessary, but there will still be a pressure-reducing sleeve to lower the pressure in the sealing chamber.
It cannot be canceled; the mouth ring is used to balance the axial force, and the source of this axial force is the difference in the force-bearing areas on the front and rear covers of the impeller, which causes the force to act in the direction of the inlet!
If the gap at the ring behind the impeller is too large, the pressure in the sealing chamber in front of the mechanical seal increases, which affects the proper operation of the mechanical seal; this issue cannot be eliminated.
It cannot be canceled. Cancelling it will disrupt the axial force of the pump!
