Proper Use of Pumps 1) Key items to check before starting ① Whether all accessories are present and in good working condition, and whether the pressure gauge reads zero. ②Is the amount and quality of oil in the lubrication tank meeting the requirements? ③Check whether the relevant fastening bolts and nuts for the connecting rod and crosshead are loose. ④Whether the valve of the import/export switch is in the correct open or closed position. ⑤Are the steam traps and vent valves open, and are the lubrication oil ports unobstructed? 2) During startup, turn the shaft 2~3 times to check for any obstructions; if any are present, identify the cause and resolve the issue. 3) After the inspection is complete, slowly open the steam valve to preheat the steam cylinder; once steam begins to flow through the drain valve, close it. Then open the pump’s vent valve and inlet valve. Open the steam valve to start the pump, then close the vent valve for normal operation. 4) It is strictly prohibited to operate the pump under conditions of overpressure, excessive speed, or vacuum. 5) While the pump is in operation, it is necessary to regularly check for any knocking sounds inside the cylinder, as well as any cracking sounds from the inlet and outlet valves. 6) When large fluctuations in inlet and outlet pressures are detected, check whether the spool valves and valves are clogged with scale, and clean them promptly. 7) Regularly check the bearing temperature, pump vibration, and current level, and address any issues that arise promptly. 2. Maintenance (1) Regularly clean the lubrication system and remove oil residues and dirt to keep all friction surfaces clean. ⑵Regularly check all rotating parts and bolts; if any looseness is detected, tighten them promptly. ⑶Regularly check the outlet pressure and current level; make adjustments promptly if they exceed the specified values. ⑷After shutting down, the condensate in the cylinder and any material inside it should be drained to prevent corrosion or cracking of the cylinder. ⑸Pay attention to any leaks in the stuffing box, and adjust the tightness of the gland promptly. ⑹Maintain good lubrication of the bearings and all friction pairs; if an increase in temperature is detected, identify the cause promptly and address it.
