At the first pumping station of a long-distance gasoline and diesel pipeline, the thrust bearing of one imported two-stage pumping unit experienced a brief (1-hour) sharp rise in temperature (from 36 degrees to 76 degrees), after which it returned to normal levels. What could be the cause of this? I would appreciate any insights you can provide. The thrust bearing consists of a pair of angular contact ball bearings.
Could it be that the pump suffered from cavitation, and it gradually got better?
The temperature of the motor bearings in our unit is similar to that shown in your graph; the electrical and instrumentation staff have tried to find the cause, but so far they haven’t succeeded
Has something gotten into the slide? Or could large fluctuations in operating conditions cause high shaft displacement?
This graph should reflect the truth; the key is to understand what exactly happened at that particular time point. There is a high possibility of changes in the system process.
This curve appears during the pump startup process. Additionally, earlier on while the pump was in operation, the temperature of the thrust bearing fluctuated greatly. It is initially suspected that there is a problem with the probe’s contact (but since the temperature trends of the thrust bearing probe and the radial bearing probe in the same bearing housing are similar, this seems unlikely). Moreover, the personnel on site have been instructed to check whether the temperature of the lubricating oil in the bearing housing rises when this situation occurs again. If a similar situation occurs again, disassemble the bearing housing.
