The closing force of the sealing end face consists of two factors, namely elastic force and medium pressure. The medium pressure varies greatly with different types of seals (such as balanced and unbalanced seals). No matter what the conditions are, elastic force is always indispensable, especially when the medium pressure is small, the closing force is mainly composed of elastic force. The current method of applying elastic force mainly uses various springs and bellows. In addition, magnetic force can also be used. Spring is a common mechanical part that is easy to manufacture and install, low in price, and highly adaptable, so it is widely used as an elastic element in mechanical seals. The mechanical seal spring has a single force and is completely in a "compression" state. Judging from the cross-section of spring wires, most of them are round and some are rectangular. ; Distinguished from the outline of the spring, there are cylindrical coil springs, conical coil springs, butterfly springs and wave springs. The first two springs are easy to manufacture and install, but require a larger axial size of the sealing box, while the latter two are just the opposite and are used in situations where the axial size is small. In addition, there are dual-function springs, which in addition to exerting elastic force, can also transmit torque. The parallel coil spring and the uppercut spring have this function. Bellows can be called elastic elements with three functions, integrating elasticity, torque transmission and sealing, so this type of sealing has a trend of increasing day by day.
The elastic components of mechanical seals mainly include the following types:: 1. Cylindrical coil spring: It is easy to manufacture and install, low cost, and widely used, but requires larger axial dimensions. 2. Conical coil spring: The characteristics are similar to the cylindrical shape and are used when there are special requirements for axial space. 3. Butterfly springs and wave springs: It is suitable for occasions with small axial dimensions and takes up little space. 4. Dual function spring: In addition to exerting elastic force, they can also transmit torque, such as coil springs and hook springs. 5. Bellows: The elastic element, torque transmission and sealing functions are integrated into one, with wide applicability and increasing usage trend. Each type of elastic element has its unique characteristics and applicable fields according to different design requirements and working conditions. .
