Generally, centrifugal pump manufacturers equipped with self-priming tanks recommend that there be no need to measure the liquid level in such tanks. However, if it is required that this liquid level be linked to the start and stop of the sump pump, then a level gauge must be installed. First question: Couldn’t the start and stop of the sump pump be linked to the level of the sump (gypsum slurry)? Why does it need to be linked to the level of the self-priming tank? Second question: Normally, if a self-priming tank is required and liquid level measurement is needed, a radar level gauge is chosen. Are there any other measurement methods that can meet this interlock requirement? (More economical)

Original poster, the liquid level in your self-priming tank should be constant, right? Otherwise, how can we ensure that the pump inlet pipeline is filled with liquid? What if the liquid level in the self-priming tank also changes? Then it’s not called a pre-pump self-priming tank. Self-priming tanks are usually installed at a high position to draw liquid from sumps; level floats and other interlocking devices should be installed in the sumps to control the start and stop of the pump
Normally, I also think that the liquid level should remain constant under normal conditions; there should be a fluid flowing inside, so the fluctuations shouldn’t be very large. However, the tank and the pump are on the same plane, and I also think that by installing a level switch to output a DI signal, it is possible to create interlocking with the pump.
