Condition of the fluid pumped: To increase the solubility of ferrous sulfate and reduce the amount of tap water used, the wastewater containing vanadium is employed for preparing ferrous sulfate solutions. The parameters of this wastewater are as follows: Parameter V5+, Cr6+, NH4+, PH, Na+, Cl- Concentration ≤0.1g/L ≤2g/L ≤3g/L 1.5–3.5 ≤20g/L ≤15g/L Parameter SO42-, Si, Fe, Ca2+, P Concentration ≤20g/L ≤0.2g/L ≤0.2g/L ≤0.2g/L 0.1g/L Note: 1. Water temperature is 70–80 degrees Celsius； 2. The chemical used on-site is prepared as a saturated ferrous sulfate solution based on the water temperature. 2. The material of the pump’s liquid-contacting components is high-chromium alloy. 3. Self-priming 1.8m. 4. The attached figure shows the corrosion condition of the impeller. Analyze the causes of impeller corrosion; what material should be chosen for the liquid-contacting components?
If the medium contains too many corrosive ions, considering spraying a wear- and corrosion-resistant material on the surface could be an option.
The corrosion is quite severe; multiple corrosion mechanisms may be at play simultaneously.
Replacing it with fluoroplastic material can effectively improve the situation.
