Our unit uses steam jet pumps for vacuum creation in the distillation tower, with tower pressures ranging from 5 to 90 KPa. We are now planning to replace them with water ring vacuum pumps, but since we have not used water ring vacuum pumps before, we are not aware of the advantages and disadvantages of each type of pump
Since the vacuum level requirement is not high, a water ring vacuum pump can fully serve as a substitute
No problem at all; many units have switched to water rings, and the results are quite good relatively speaking!

Water-ring pumps require good condensation performance, otherwise too many low-boiling substances will affect the vacuum level of the pump.

Is a 5Kpa vacuum level requiring a multi-stage vacuum pump?
Water ring vacuum pumps should be able to achieve a gauge pressure of over 10 KPa; achieving a pressure of 5–10 KPa is only possible in winter. At 40°C, the saturated vapor pressure of water is as high as 7.4 KPa; since the saturated vapor partial pressure cannot be reduced through condensation, how can it be brought down to 5 KPa?
It cannot be considered solely in terms of vacuum pressure; not only the type of pump and its working principle need to be taken into account, but more importantly, the medium involved – these are what determine its suitability.
