In accordance with Article 14.1.3 of GB 50074-2014 \"Code for Design of Oil Depots\". Fire pump stations and foam stations in Class I, II, and III oil depots shall be equipped with emergency lighting. Batteries can be used as a backup power source for this emergency lighting, and its continuous operation time should not be less than 6 hours. Here, the emergency lighting should serve as backup lighting, with an illuminance level equal to that of the normal lighting; however, the backup power supply should last for at least 6 hours. How should this be addressed in actual projects?
For 6-hour emergency use, EPS is generally required, while ordinary lighting fixtures will suffice.
The backup power source for emergency lighting does not necessarily have to be entirely provided by batteries. When the fire protection power supply is classified as a type II load, in the event of a failure of the normal power supply, the backup emergency power supply can generally be activated within 15 minutes, and the capacity of the batteries installed ensures power supply for 30 minutes.
