Recently, the workshop asked me to provide a limit value for vibration (at which point maintenance should be notified). It turns out that the workshop measured displacement in micrometers, while the standard is to measure velocity in mm/s; I therefore provided an approximate limit value based on the actual conditions on site and the data related to the pump. But it seems that this value is a bit high, because according to GB standards, the maximum value for many of our pumps is 7.1 mm/s, while the actual measurement values on site are 1–2 mm/s, which indicates that the conditions are quite good. Still, I’m a bit worried about it. I’m not sure what criteria the experts are using to make their decisions
Less than 1.8 mm/s: Excellent; 1.8–4.5 mm/s: Acceptable; it is recommended to use 4.5
Take a look at what industry your company is in, and refer to national standards or industry standards. The equipment on the second floor should be classified as Category 2 equipment according to petrochemical standards.
According to GB, what you provided is classified as Category 1 equipment, but most of the items here are Category 2. From what you say, it should be fine to set it this way.
We are in the chemical industry, and I just want to confirm that the limit values I’ve provided are correct; if they are right, then it’s fine. :P
There should be no issues with the data settings; it’s also important to pay attention to whether the vibration meter being used measures the average value or the effective value – the standard practice is to use the effective value.
