We need to install a sprinkler system in our company’s material storage area. Due to the tight deadline, we had to use the available materials and equipment. I took a DN65 pipe (about 100 meters long) from a DN100 water supply pipe (with a water pressure of 4 kg; the flow rate is unknown), and then divided it into two branches. Each branch was connected to a GD65-30 pipeline pump; after the pumps, there were DN65 pipes – one about 180 meters long and the other about 220 meters long. There were 4 nozzles on each pipe. Only one pump can be operated at a time; the spraying distance is only about 8-10 meters. The water sprayed out seems to have weak force, let alone be in a misted state. The height from the junction with the DN100 pipe to the water pump inlet is approximately 5-6 meters. The height difference from the water pump outlet to the highest nozzle is approximately 8 meters. What are the reasons why the spray distance of the nozzle does not meet the specifications? Is the water pump flow low? (I only have GD65-30 available,) or is the water flow insufficient due to the original DN100 water supply pipes? Now that the pump is turned on, there is almost no water at the water usage points at the rear end of the DN100 pipe. Or other reasons? What exactly is the flow rate of GD65-30? Why do some websites state 25 m3/h while others mention 15 m3/h?
Connect the pump near the nozzle, or add a booster pump in the vicinity of the nozzle
A booster pump was added, which introduced the issue of multiple pumps in series. The simplest solution now is to replace it with a pump that has a higher head. Now the height difference between the nozzle and the pump outlet is only 6 or 7 meters; the pump has a head of 30 meters. The pressure loss caused by the horizontal length of the pipes shouldn’t be that significant, right?
At full flow, the head is not very high to begin with; there are also 200 meters, plus valves, elbows, and so on
