Dear sea friends, what type of oil should be used in the centrifugal pumps commonly found in chemical manufacturing enterprises? Our company is currently using diesel engine oil (CD15W-40); is that not suitable? I’ve seen that many companies use anti-wear hydraulic oil (L-HM46). Which type is more appropriate? Do you have any good recommendations?
The commonly used hydraulic oil for general centrifugal pumps is VG46, which is the anti-wear hydraulic oil referred to by the poster as HM46. Specifically, it depends on the manufacturer of the pump in your unit – the user manual will indicate what type of oil is recommended. Then you can ask professional lubricant companies. After all, the viscosity of this CD15W-40 oil is not much different from that of the common 46 viscosity grade.

Anti-wear hydraulic oil or turbine oil can be used; generally, grades 32#, 46#, and 68# are employed. Depending on the operating temperature, it is necessary to ensure that the viscosity of the oil is at least 12 mm2/S at that temperature
