We have a centrifugal pump with a power rating of 2.2 kW, a head of 28 meters, and a flow rate of 0.12 cubic meters per minute. It is used to pump dilute waste acid from a tank with a capacity of 2 cubic meters. The inlet diameter is DN50, while the outlet diameter is DN25. The pump often stops operating after running for a while; it can be started again after being reset. It stops operating two or three times when the liquid level drops from 65% to 30%. What could be the reason for this? Is it because the outlet pipe is too small, causing flow restriction? Is it necessary to add return pipes at the outlet?

It is possible to choose a centrifugal pump with 40 units for inlet and 25 units for outlet; when selecting the equipment, inform the manufacturer of the specific gravity of the material so that the required power can be calculated accurately.
1. Check the electrical protection to see if there are any false trips caused by aging, or if the protection current setting is too low. 2. The pump flow rate is too high, causing the motor to be overloaded; this is more likely to occur when the liquid level is high. Try closing the outlet valve a bit. 3. There is a problem with the pump itself; check the temperature rise and vibration, and stop the pump to turn it manually or disassemble it for inspection.
