During the maintenance of the fifth-stage blower, a crack was found in the fourth-stage casing. Upon inspection, it was determined that the crack was caused by medium corrosion. Can it be operated without any treatment after being installed directly? What are the hazards of this crack to the operation of the equipment? Please ask an expert to help answer

It causes a reduction in the fan’s efficiency, lower air pressure, noise generation at the cracks, and an enlargement of those cracks; it is recommended to repair them by applying patches or performing riveting/welding on the outside of the fan. Additionally, look for similar signs of defects on the centrifuge and reinforce it in advance to prevent problems; it is not recommended to operate it while it has defects.
Just use it without any processing? Since it is known that the damage is caused by medium corrosion, even if there are no conditions for replacement, the cracks should be polished and repaired, or another layer of corrosion-resistant material should be welded on. Otherwise, the cracks will really get bigger, and the casing will be severely damaged; the risk is too high!
2mm cast iron is difficult to repair by welding.
