What is the priming tank of a centrifugal pump related to? Is there a relationship between the size of the water intake tank and the pump’s head?
It has nothing to do with the pump’s head; it is related to the volume of the pump’s inlet pipeline
Its volume is related to the pump flow rate and the amount of air in the inlet pipeline; generally, it is 1/2 to 2/3 of the pump’s flow rate per second. The upper and lower limits can be determined based on the length and diameter of the inlet pipeline (i.e., the amount of air present there)
It has no relation to the performance of the pump, but it can increase the inlet pressure, prevent cavitation, and eliminate the need for priming the pump.
