The last edit to this post was made by 3983596_FPPZ on 2018-10-30 at 12:43. In the workshop, I saw an 8-stage split-case multi-stage pump that was under repair. The pump’s flow rate was 280, its head was 1050, its power output was 1400 KW, and its rotational speed was 2950. Something seemed wrong to me: the impellers were arranged in a 4:4 back-to-back configuration. The first stage’s impeller had normal twisted blades, while the impellers of stages 2 to 7 had radial straight blades; the eighth stage again had normal-shaped blades. Why is that?
I’ve never seen this type of multi-stage split-case pump; it should work on the same principle as ordinary multi-stage pumps. The first stage and the eighth stage are likely to have the same primary impeller, while the stages 2, 3, 4/5, 6, 7 have the same secondary impellers.

Levels 2 to 7 feature radially straight blades; the impellers on both sides can be the same, or they can differ, otherwise it would be easy for users to install them incorrectly during maintenance. The large impeller inlet at the head cannot be installed incorrectly.
