A self-priming pump used for separating clean and dirty water in one of the units at our facility often fails to deliver sufficient flow. Of course, sometimes this is due to inadequate priming of the pump, but the main reason is the excessive amount of dirt and debris in the tank. Let’s discuss with everyone: apart from strengthening the pumping process, do you have any other measures? Actually, I’m just trying to provoke further discussion – for example, adding filters to the horizontal or vertical sections at the inlet, and so on. Looking forward to everyone's discussions: lol
Isn’t a self-priming pump meant to be primed only once? Why is it necessary to prime it frequently? Is there a leak somewhere in the shaft seal or the suction pipe?
Previously, in addition to installing filters, we also created a device to periodically lift the pipeline at the bottom of the self-priming pump
Since a filter screen is to be used, why not solve the issue at the inlet of the suction pipe: install a larger screen with a certain number of mesh holes, or use one that is placed in the water as a sedimentation filter. This screen can be fixed to the inlet of the suction pipe, so that the material drawn in doesn’t need to be filtered separately, and cleaning becomes easier as well

Haha, I’ve achieved the discussion effect I wanted initially. I’d like to share how we do it here: we drilled some holes in the inlet pipe, holes with a diameter of φ10 as shown in the screenshot, which serve as filters.
Several nozzles are located around the filter screen; before starting the pump, use high-pressure water to wash away the dirt on the screen and around the pipes
Centrifugal self-priming pumps require filling only once, but this initial filling process is troublesome~~
Add a gas extractor, and close it after setting the volume
