I already posted this in the mechanical equipment forum, but no one responded, so I’ve moved it here. Please take a look at the attached images: the cast aluminum end faces on both sides of the spare rotor shield sleeve are clearly 10 mm shorter than those of the original rotor. All other installation dimensions are the same as those of the original rotor. Which friend has encountered this situation? Can it be faked? Will it affect the operation of the equipment?
This should be a spare part supplied exclusively by the equipment manufacturer; everything must be approved by them. And relevant confirmation documents must be available for future liability verification. New technologies and materials are constantly emerging, so it is the manufacturers who have the most say in this matter; it is necessary to get in touch with the suppliers to confirm things.
In this case, it’s necessary to recheck whether the installation position of the new rotor is at the magnetic center; otherwise, it’s better not to use it!
Whoever provides the spare parts is responsible for the outcome. Why hasn’t new dynamic balancing been done?
It doesn’t matter; as long as the rotor’s split width is the same, that’s fine. What’s important is the amount of shaft play.
