Reasons for frequent leakage of mechanical seals in ordinary centrifugal pumps for C3 and C4 liquefied gases

The pressure in C3 and C4 media is high, which easily causes domestic mechanical seals to fail.
Now they all have double-end seals, so little is exposed
This medium has a high saturated vapor pressure; to ensure liquid transport, the pipeline network is pressurized, which results in high pressure in the pump as well as in the sealing chamber. This leads to easy damage of the seals and leaks. Additionally, if the pressure is insufficient during transportation, the medium may vaporize, causing the pump to run dry with no liquid present, and resulting in dry friction of the seals
Indeed, it is recommended to upgrade to a cascade seal, as it is more reliable.

The traditional single-face mechanical seal used for sealing is no longer sufficient to meet the requirements related to production, safety, and environmental protection; therefore, upgrades are necessary: double-face seals or dry gas seals should be employed; Improve the flushing protocol ; Add a leak-sealed emission system.
