As shown in the diagram, I previously posted a thread regarding the cooling methods for hot water pumps. I am very grateful for everyone’s responses, as they have helped me learn a lot. Now here is my question: The pump in the diagram is also used to generate hot water, with a temperature of around 160°C. This pump has four cooling channels: at the impeller, inside the volute, outside the volute, and in the bearing housing (as for the channel from the impeller to the pump inlet, I’m not sure if it counts as one of the cooling channels). The temperature of our water is currently around 190°C, which is below the saturated vapor pressure at the current pressure. The manufacturer recommends using the Plant21 cooling method with a parameter value of 610; some experienced users on the forum suggest using method 23 instead. But whether it’s method 21 or 23, compared to the four cooling channels shown in the diagram, what are your thoughts on this cooling approach? 2 Currently, the business department is seeking quotes from manufacturers. The design institute has proposed only one cooling method, namely the 610 Plant21 cooling method. Is it possible to request the manufacturer to design it using the cooling method shown in the diagram? With this design, what are the additional costs? Actually, the cooling method of Plant21 in the 610 system worked fine for a while, but over time it could not operate stably. After switching to the cooling method shown in the diagram, there have been no problems for a long time now. So I came here to hear the opinions of those who are more experienced than me. I would be extremely grateful if you could share your insights with me! https://bbs.hcbbs.com/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1713571&size=300x300&key=e9b8e27c8bb99eb5&nocache=yes&type=fixnone https://bbs.hcbbs.com/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1713575&size=300x300&key=d3d426ad06475f61&nocache=yes&type=fixnone https://bbs.hcbbs.com/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1713576&size=300x300&key=06750cd0b072aec9&nocache=yes&type=fixnone
PLAN13 from the sealed chamber to the inlet; the blue pipeline carries cooling water. With a heat exchanger, it should be 21+13
Where is that tube for tracing connected? I only see one end connected to the heat exchanger
It’s something like a drain pipe for a heat exchanger, used for maintenance; the diagram isn’t very complete
At such a high temperature, it is recommended to use 23; will 21 be enough to cool it down?
The design institute provided scheme 21 for the mechanical seal flushing system, while the cooling scheme can be MK; or the manufacturer may add components such as pump covers and legs depending on the operating conditions, to determine whether additional cooling is needed
For specific details, refer to API 610 for cooling schemes, and API 682 for sealing and flushing schemes
The method shown in the diagram can achieve cooling, and the manufacturer claims with confidence that cooling to 21 degrees is no problem.
I know one end is connected to the heat exchanger, but where is the other end connected to? A tube has two ends, right?
In other words, for this cooling scheme, although there is a design institute’s proposal, can it still be modified in practice?
