Jining Ganghang Longgong Port is a first-class \"smart and green\" inland container port in China. It is also the first inland port in the country to operate unmanned intelligent transportation on a regular basis, with an annual cargo handling capacity of over 20 million tons. To address the drainage challenges during the flood season, Kaiquan adopted an innovative solution of integrated prefabricated pump stations, designing and constructing super-large integrated rainwater pump stations with a diameter of up to 10 meters. The core component of this project is a fiberglass cylinder with a diameter of 10 meters and a depth of 9.05 meters, which can accommodate 4 high-power submersible axial flow pumps inside. As the core component of the entire pumping station, this fiberglass cylinder not only enhances the water storage capacity and flow capacity of the port area but also ensures the operational stability of the whole pumping station. Furthermore, this pumping station is equipped with the capacity to handle the maximum rainfall levels expected in the area every 50 years, providing a solid guarantee for the safe operation of the port. During the initial stage of scheme design, the KAIQUAN technical team conducted multiple on-site inspections and optimizations of the scheme. By combining CFD hydraulic model analysis with CAE calculations for cylinder strength, they arranged the positions of the water pumps and guide vanes in an appropriate manner, thereby addressing issues such as uneven water flow and vortices inside the pump station and ensuring the optimal operating head and stability of the water pumps. At the same time, strict oversight and verification were carried out on the foundation requirements and lifting procedures during the on-site construction phase, to ensure the safety and suitability of the pump station.
Pump stations that integrate pumps, pipelines, control systems, ventilation systems, etc., and are manufactured in advance as prefabricated components, used for lifting and transporting water. The main body of the pumping station consists of components such as a cylinder, water pumps, lifting devices, pipes, valves, grates, level sensors, a control system, and a ventilation system. Integrated prefabricated pumping stations have a history of over 60 years in research, development, and use in Europe, and have become the primary solution for municipal water supply and drainage pumping stations there. Over the past 10 years, with the widespread adoption of integrated prefabricated pumping stations around the world, they can now be found in various locations, providing services to those areas. The enclosure of an integrated prefabricated pump station is in the form of a cylinder; inside, an internal shaft replaces the conventional pipes. The water pump is installed within this internal shaft. Water enters the cylinder through the inlet, passes through the flow straightening plate at the bottom of the cylinder, then enters the internal shaft. After being pressurized by the pump, the water flows upward along the internal shaft to reach the outlet.
Such large fiberglass cylinders have significant buoyancy when submerged underground; I wonder how they overcome that issue? We once buried a fiberglass cylinder underground (V=20 cubic meters); due to its excessive buoyancy, it was pushed back up by the groundwater after a short time.
