What is the purpose of this pipeline in front of the centrifugal pump? The diagram shows it as a pressure balance pipeline. Could someone who knows this explain it? If it’s a pressure balance pipeline, how is balance achieved?
I’m not sure what this process is; I guess it might be a steam drum. This connecting pipe seems to have no connection to the pump – it’s probably a pipe used to maintain the balance of gas, liquid, and slurry levels inside the steam drum. A tube for balancing liquid level and air pressure. I’m not sure if this understanding is correct. I remember there was such a circuit in the converter steam vessel of the steel plant. For reference.
The condensate pump of a condensing steam turbine is equipped with this line, which is used for venting air before starting the pump after maintenance.

It could be: a condensate vaporization equilibrium pressure tube, to prevent vaporization due to a drop in pressure at the inlet of the transfer pump.
