Dear colleagues in the field of processes and equipment, our facility is equipped with a set of sewage lift pumps as shown in the diagram. This is the first time these pumps are being started, and they will not start no matter what we try. Could you please advise us on how to operate such pumps during their first startup, as well as how to maintain them going forward? Thank you all.

Maintenance simply involves following the instructions provided in the pump’s manual; what deserves attention is the cleanliness of the lubricating oil (grease) used. The most likely cause is sedimentation and scaling of the material in your pump’s pre-tank; it may need to be cleaned regularly, otherwise it will affect the water intake volume. This depends on the degree of current reduction and the drop in outlet pressure to determine whether there is sediment.
Add water to the tank and just turn it on
Is the motor unable to rotate, or is there no pressure when it’s turned on, so it can’t pump fluid?
Insulation is added to the inlet and outlet pipes of the sewage pump – is this to reuse thermal energy? What process is used?
How is the inlet of the water intake tank piped? Does this pump transfer fluid at a level below the pump base?
This should be a self-priming pump; it can also be used for creating a vacuum. The tank is rather simple; normally, there should be a level switch or a level transmitter to interlock the pump’s start and stop operation, thereby enhancing safety
How can the inlet and outlet of the water tank be at the same height?
