Question for assistance: The flushing scheme includes an external flushing pump of type PLAN32. Under normal operation, the flushing medium (ethylbenzene) is supplied by a separate pump; during single-unit testing and water-based testing, should water be used as a substitute for the flushing medium, and does the pump that supplies the flushing medium need to be turned on?
Are there any other flushing methods for the pump seal? If it’s there, there’s no need to turn it on. For us, it’s external flushing + if 52b is not activated, it’s as if there’s no external flushing. If there is no other way to flush, it is necessary to turn it on or simply loosen the valve and reduce its setting, allowing the pressure in the sealing chamber to push the water straight onto the ground; this is done to prevent the water in the mechanical seal chamber from becoming stagnant and causing damage to the seal. However, there may be impurities such as slag when the device is first turned on, and discharging these substances directly could cause debris to enter the sealed chamber; therefore, it is best to perform an external flushing first.
The reason for choosing PLAN32 may be due to certain characteristics of the medium, such as its tendency to crystallize, the presence of particles or dirt in it, or high temperatures. If water is used instead, these issues do not arise; therefore, using just water for testing poses no problem!

I also would like to ask whether it is necessary for the pump during single-unit testing to reach its operating pressure at the inlet – for example, with a normal operating pressure of 3.7 MPa. If it’s only a matter of liquid level, and the liquid level is around 20 meters, then the pressure at the inlet would be a little over 0.2 MPa; this would result in changes in the flushing pressure for PLAN32.

As long as the external flushing pressure is higher than the pressure in the sealing chamber, there should be no problems; I’m not too familiar with the details. However, if the inlet pressure is low, the outlet pressure won’t be able to reach the specified level either. The guy upstairs said it’s not necessary to give it, so there should be no problem. Just now I thought I had never seen a machine seal of 37 kilograms, but as soon as I went to the new installation I encountered one that was 50 kilograms. . .
