Issue of the drain pump being connected to the air in the drain tank

Dear technicians, use a drainage pump to draw out the liquid from the tank. During operation, open the valve that is connected to the tank’s gas supply in order to maintain pressure and prevent the pump from running dry. So, when the pump is not in use, should this valve connected to the gas be open or closed? And why?
There are various types of tanks; it is best to refer to the relevant instructions. Some tanks require a certain pressure to be maintained even when not in use for long periods.
This mainly depends on the properties of the material; ensuring that the air pathways are open when the pump is started is to prevent the tank from collapsing due to negative pressure inside it. When the pump is not running, it is mainly necessary to check whether pressure balance is required.
What liquid is inside the tank? What is the temperature? If it is a flammable material, simply introducing air is not appropriate
