There are two bearing caps, one with a groove and the other without; is this groove a return oil groove? There is a hole at the location where this groove meets the bearing housing, and this hole leads to the oil reservoir of the bearing housing. One more question: is it necessary to create this slot? Are there any requirements? Thank you!
This is the drive-end bearing cover, which serves as an oil guide channel; the lubricating oil carried by the pump shaft as it rotates helps prevent excessive oil from leaking at the oil seal of the bearing housing.
