Magnetic pump 32CQ-25, flow rate of 6.6 cubic meters per hour, motor power of 1.1 KW. During normal operation, both the inlet and outlet valves are fully open; the motor current is 3.6 A, and the motor heats up. When the outlet valve is closed to two-thirds, the motor current drops to 2.4 A, and the motor operates normally. What could be the reason for this? Waiting online
I. Check the electrical system to determine whether the superflow is caused by electrical issues; II. If there are no electrical issues, check whether the head value chosen is too high. Also examine the pump’s performance curve to see if the pump’s actual performance deviates significantly from that curve ; III. Check the medium parameters to see if they match the process parameters provided during selection. If the viscosity of the medium is higher than the values given for selection, it is possible that the pump chosen is too small. If possible, the medium temperature can be increased slightly to reduce its viscosity, or discussions can be held with the manufacturer to find alternative solutions.
I used to have many such pumps, and I’ve never encountered this issue; it’s only the pumps purchased this time that have this problem. It’s not from the same manufacturer as the previous pump. Confused
If the model is the same, you can swap this motor with another pump to see what happens.
It is likely that the rated parameters of the pump do not match the actual requirements on site; normal operation can only be achieved by controlling the outlet valve. With a change in manufacturer, it’s likely that the data provided is not consistent with the previous one, or it could be due to some other unknown reason.
The shaft power is a bit high. The issue is resolved with a 1.5kw motor.
It’s normal to have excessive power consumption during high-flow operation; has the flow rate been measured?
What medium? Has the full-open outlet current always been 3.6A?
