Based on the number and arrangement of the sealed end faces, mechanical seals can be classified into single-end face, double-end face, and multi-end face types. A mechanical seal in which the two sealing end faces are arranged \"back to back\" (Figure 10a) or \"face to face\" (Figure 10b) is called a double-end face mechanical seal. Double-end face seals can be used for working media that are toxic, explosive, flammable, volatile, crystalline, exposed to high or low temperatures, or that are gases, as well as for sealing in high-vacuum conditions. At this point, a sealing fluid is introduced into the sealing chamber between the two end faces to achieve sealing, lubrication, and cooling. Under normal circumstances, a clean and lubricious medium is chosen for the sealing fluid.
The characteristics of double-end face seals include: 1. They can be used in special operating conditions: suitable for applications where the working medium is toxic, explosive, flammable, volatile, crystalline, operates at high or low temperatures, or is a gas, as well as for sealing in high-vacuum environments. 2. Introduction of sealing fluid: A sealing fluid is introduced into the sealing chamber between the two end faces to achieve sealing, lubrication, and cooling. 3. Flexible end face arrangement: You can choose between a “back-to-back” or “face-to-face” arrangement. 4. Sealing fluid requirements: Under normal circumstances, a clean medium with good lubricity should be used as the sealing fluid. 5. Improved sealing performance: Thanks to the dual-end design, the sealing effect is **enhanced**, preventing leakage of the medium and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the equipment. .
