Pump installation process: Foundation inspection → Pump placement and installation → Testing and adjustment → Lubrication and oiling → Trial operation. 1. Foundation inspection: The foundation’s coordinates, elevation, dimensions, and pre-drilled holes must meet the design requirements. The base surface is flat, and the concrete strength meets the requirements for equipment installation. 1) The planar dimensions of the water pump foundation should be 100~150 mm wider on all sides than the base of the water pump unit when installed without vibration isolation ; When installed with vibration isolation, it should extend 150 mm beyond each side of the water pump’s vibration isolation base. The elevation of the base top should be at least 100 mm above the finished surface of the pump house floor when installed without vibration isolation, and at least 50 mm above that surface when installed with vibration isolation; moreover, no water accumulation shall occur. The perimeter of the foundation is equipped with drainage facilities to facilitate water drainage during maintenance or to remove water resulting from accidents. 2) Oil, gravel, dirt, standing water, etc. on the surface of the water pump foundation and in the pre-drilled holes for anchor bolts must be thoroughly removed ; The threads of the embedded foot bolts and their nuts should be properly protected ; The surface of the area where the shims are to be placed should be leveled. 2. Positioning and installation of the water pump: Place the water pump on the foundation, and use shims to align and level it. After the water pump is installed, the shims in the same group should be spot-welded together to prevent them from loosening under stress. 1) Pump is installed without vibration isolation. After aligning and leveling the water pump, install the foot bolts; the screws should be vertical, with the exposed length of the screws being approximately 1/2 of their diameter. During the secondary grouting of anchor bolts, the strength of the concrete should be 1–2 grades higher than that of the foundation, and must not be lower than C25 ; During grouting, it should be compacted, and the foundation bolts must not be tilted, as this could affect the installation accuracy of the water pump unit. 2) Vibration isolation installation of the water pump. ①Vibration isolation installation for horizontal water pumps: The vibration isolation measure for horizontal water pump units involves installing rubber shock absorbers (pads) or spring shock absorbers beneath a reinforced concrete base or a steel frame base. ②Vibration isolation installation for vertical water pumps: The vibration isolation measure for vertical water pump units involves installing rubber shock absorbers (pads) under the base of the pump unit or the steel backing plates. ③A rigid connection is used between the pump unit base and the vibration damping base or steel pad. ④The model specifications and installation location of the vibration damping pads or dampers shall meet the design requirements. Shock absorbers (shocks) under the same base should be of the same model produced by the same manufacturer. ⑤During the installation of shock absorbers (shims) for the water pump unit, measures must be taken to prevent the unit from tilting. After the vibration dampers (shocks) for the water pump unit are installed, measures must also be taken to prevent the unit from tilting when installing its inlet and outlet pipes, fittings, and accessories, in order to ensure safe construction. 3) On-site assembly of large water pumps: When the pump and motor of a large water pump are separated and need to be assembled on-site, the following precautions should be observed: ① Construct steel frame supports on the concrete foundation according to the design drawings, fix them to the foundation using anchor bolts, and carry out rough leveling. ②The water pump and motor are in place. If a core pull-out inspection is required for the motor before it is installed, care must be taken to avoid damaging the enameled wire covering of the motor rotor and stator windings. Check for any foreign objects in the stator slots ; Check whether the gap between the rotor and stator is uniform, and whether there is any wobbling phenomenon ; Whether the motor bearings are in good condition. Replace the lubricating oil. If the water pump needs to be cleaned, it must be disassembled. When using bearing shells, it is necessary to check the clearance of these shells to prevent them from being too loose or from sticking to the shaft. The coupling between the water pump and the motor is fixed to the shaft using keys, and it is required to be installed evenly. A set square or level can be used for measurement. Everything is ready; it can be set in place now. 3. Use levels and plumb bobs for inspection and adjustment to measure and fine-tune the flanges at the inlet and outlet of the water pump as well as its base surfaces, so as to achieve precise installation of the pump. For a properly installed pump, the levelness of the horizontal pump body should not exceed 0.1/1000, while the verticality of the vertical pump body should not exceed 0.1/1000. When the water pump and motor are connected using a coupling, measurements and adjustments are carried out in the axial and radial directions of the coupling using tools such as dial indicators and feeler gauges. The axial tilt of the coupling should not exceed 0.8/1000, while the radial displacement should not exceed 0.1 mm. When adjusting the concentricity of the water pump and the motor, loosen the bolts on the coupling, as well as the bolts that connect the water pump and the motor to the base. Thin steel sheets or copper sheets of different thicknesses can be used to adjust the angular and radial displacements. Slightly lift one of the corners of the motor or water pump that needs adjustment, and place a thin steel sheet or thin copper sheet cut into the shape shown in the figure below beneath the bolt. Once the inspection is passed, simply tighten the bolts that were previously loosened. 4. Lubrication and oiling: Check the oil reservoir of the water pump and add oil. Rotate the coupling; the water pump should turn smoothly without any abnormal phenomena. 5. For a test run, open the inlet valve and the air release valve of the water pump to fill the pump with water; then close the valve on the pump’s discharge pipe. First, start the water pump to check for any abnormalities and to ensure that the rotation direction of the motor meets the requirements of the pump. Then start the water pump and slowly open the valve on the outlet pipe. Check the operation of the water pump, the temperature rise of the motor and bearings, the readings on the pressure gauge and vacuum gauge, as well as the condition of the pipe connections; everything should be normal and meet the design requirements.
