On November 15, Zhongrong Technology issued a announcement stating that Zhongrong Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Zhongrong Technology”) recently signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in the hydrogen energy sector with Tangshan Energy Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Energy Group”). The two parties intend to cooperate in areas such as technical collaboration in the hydrogen energy sector, project development and production operations, efficient utilization of industrial by-gas, carbon capture, and carbon emission reduction to implement the dual-carbon strategy, thereby promoting technological research and development as well as industrialization. According to the announcement, the two parties will carry out comprehensive cooperation in hydrogen production, hydrogen refueling stations, as well as the transportation and utilization of hydrogen. By making full use of Zhongrong Technology’s advanced technologies and industrialization experience, as well as the Energy Group’s abundant resources in industrial by-product gases, they will build hydrogen production facilities that incorporate multiple technologies for hydrogen production and utilization, with the aim of achieving low-cost hydrogen production. They will also establish a profitable and replicable advanced operational model to implement Tangshan’s hydrogen energy industry plan. By leveraging Zhongrong Technology’s patented technology for producing ethanol from steel plant exhaust gases, the two parties will collaborate on a project to convert industrial by-gas into high-quality ethanol that is not derived from grains, thereby enabling the clean utilization of such by-gas, reducing carbon emissions, and advancing efforts to achieve the dual-carbon goals. Founded in 1999 and located in the Fengrun Economic Development Zone of Hebei Province, Zhongrong Technology Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise of ** level, as well as a “little giant” enterprise recognized for its expertise, specialization, and innovation, focusing on the research, development, production, and sales of non-grain ethanol and related downstream products. It has undertaken the **Torch Program** and the **Key New Product Program**, and is a leader in China’s field of non-grain ethanol. At present, Zhongrong Technology is the only company at home and abroad that produces and sells high-quality ethanol (produced through non-grain methods). The company produces 300,000 tons of ethyl acetate, 180,000 tons of ethanol, 20,000 tons of disinfectant alcohol products, 10,000 tons of 1,6-hexanediol (HDO), and 40 million Nm3 of natural gas per year. The company’s anhydrous ethanol can be used as fuel ethanol and added to gasoline at a ratio of 10% to produce ethanol gasoline, which can reduce emissions of air pollutants by over 70%. According to available information, in November last year, Tangshan Zhongrong Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhongrong Technology, obtained the approval required for enterprise investment projects related to hydrogen production. The company has begun construction of a facility for producing hydrogen fuel for automotive batteries, with production expected to start in August this year. Once operational, this facility will become the largest producer and supplier of hydrogen needed for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. In September this year, the environmental impact assessment report for the construction of Tangshan Zhongrong Technology Co., Ltd.’s hydrogen production facility with a capacity of 7,500 Nm3/h indicated that the project is located within the Qian’an Economic Development Zone in Hebei Province. It is situated within the existing factory complex, with a total investment of 117.56 million yuan, of which 600,000 yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures. The project involves the construction of two purification units; the main equipment includes PSA purification units, hydrogen compressors, and hydrogen filling stations. In addition, auxiliary facilities such as power distribution rooms and compressor workshops will be built, giving a total construction area of 1,355.5 square meters. Once the project is completed and put into operation, the hydrogen production capacity will be 59.52 million Nm3/year. Through this partnership with the Energy Group, Zhongrong Technology will leverage its patented technology for producing ethanol from steel plant exhaust gases, and work together with the Energy Group to achieve the clean utilization of industrial by-gases, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to the achievement of the dual-carbon goals.
Following the commissioning in August 2013 of China’s first domestically developed coal-based ethanol production facility with an annual capacity of 15,000 tons, Zhongrong Technology built the world’s first ethanol production project using coke oven gas, with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, in Qian’an City. Recently, the production line for 100,000 tons of anhydrous ethanol per year in Phase 1 of the project was successfully commissioned in its first operation, with the quality of the anhydrous ethanol reaching 99.98%. This advancement revolutionizes the production technologies used in the ethanol industry and will lead coal chemical processing in the direction of clean energy; as a result, China’s ethanol industry is no longer constrained by the issue of competing with food production for grain resources.
