Hangyang Group signs contract for 2×114,000 Nm3/h air separation units to support Dongming Plastics’ 800,000-ton coal-to-olefins project in Zhundong, Xinjiang

Recently, Hangyang Group Co., Ltd. signed a contract with Xinjiang Dongming Plastic Co., Ltd. for the installation of 2 × 114,000 Nm3/h air separation units to support the 800,000 tons per year coal-to-olefins project in the Modern Coal Chemical Industry Demonstration Zone of the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Xinjiang. This is the largest scale of air separation unit of its kind in the Xinjiang region. In addition, Hangyang Group Co., Ltd. is actively involved in the development of the energy and chemical industry in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In the first three quarters of 2025, it signed multiple contracts for the supply of air separation equipment with companies such as Xinjiang Zhuneng Chemical Co., Ltd., Xinjiang Haoyuan Chemical Co., Ltd., Xinjiang Shanneng Chemical Co., Ltd., Zhongrong New Energy (Kekedala) Co., Ltd., Guoneng Xinjiang Coal-to-Gas Co., Ltd., and China National Petroleum Corporation’s Tarim Oilfield. The total oxygen production capacity generated by these projects exceeds one million cubic meters, and all projects are progressing in an orderly manner. The 90,000-ton air separation project of Xinjiang Haoyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. has entered the installation phase. The achievement of these partnerships demonstrates the market’s high recognition of Hangyang’s capabilities in technology research and development, equipment manufacturing, and project delivery, further solidifying Hangyang’s absolute leadership in the field of air separation equipment, especially in the area of ultra-large-scale air separation systems. The Dongfang Hope Group Xinjiang Dongming Plastics Co., Ltd. project for an annual production capacity of 800,000 tons of coal-based olefins: The total investment in this project amounts to 1,896,744 million yuan (including 378,350 million yuan in foreign currency); of this amount, the investment required for construction is 1,755,881 million yuan (including 378,350 million yuan in foreign currency). The scale of production involves using coal as a raw material to produce methanol, which is then processed through MTO units and olefin separation processes to yield polymeric-grade ethylene and propylene. Some of these polymeric-grade ethylene and propylene are used in PP and PE polymerization processes to produce polyolefin products, while another portion is used in the production of EPDM rubber. The facility is equipped with capacities of 220×10^4 tons per year for methanol production (pureed form), including facilities for air separation, gasification, conversion, and purification; 80×10^4 tons per year for coal-to-olefins production (including olefin separation); 400,000 tons per year for polypropylene production; and 400,000 tons per year for polyethylene production. In addition to its main products of PP, PE, and EPDM, the facility also produces by-products such as sulfur, liquefied petroleum gas, and heavy C4+.
