Chongqing kicks off a project to produce polylactic acid (PLA) products with a total investment of 2 billion yuan

Chongqing PLA Products Project: On November 26, 2025, the ceremony marking the start of construction and commissioning of the third batch of major projects in Chongqing for that year was held. A total of 177 major projects were launched or put into operation, with a total investment of around 185.1 billion yuan. Of these, 106 projects began construction, with a total investment of about 112.1 billion yuan, while 71 projects were commissioned, involving an investment of around 73 billion yuan. These projects cover various fields such as modern industries, infrastructure, social welfare, and environmental protection. A total of 29 projects in Jiangjin District are participating in this phase of commencement and operation, with a total investment of 21 billion yuan. Among them, the construction project for a new factory by Jiangjin Xieteng Technology has also seen the start of work. The new factory construction project of Xieteng Technology covers a total area of 153 mu, with an intended total investment of 2 billion yuan. Phase 1 will utilize 70 mu of industrial land, requiring an investment of 400 million yuan, and will be used primarily for the production of 15,000 tons of polylactic acid-based biodegradable modified plastic products. The plan is to produce 5,000 tons per year of polylactic acid-based biodegradable food containers, 5,000 tons per year of polylactic acid-based biodegradable plastic bags, 3,000 tons per year of polylactic acid-based biodegradable modified plastic for agricultural use, and 2,000 tons per year of polylactic acid-based biodegradable modified plastic for underwear and textile applications. Once operational, this project is expected to generate an output value of over 450 million yuan.
