With an investment of 17.15 billion yuan, the 2 million-ton coal-to-methanol and 750,000-ton olefins production project in Inner Mongolia has resumed operations. In recent days, the gasification unit of Shenhua Baotou’s coal-to-olefins upgrading demonstration project has been put back into operation at full speed. The project team adheres to the working principles of \"safety first, targeted efforts, and efficient progress,\" seizes the golden period for construction in spring, and works hard to achieve the annual construction goals, thereby laying a solid foundation for the steady advancement of the project. At the start of resuming work, safety comes first. The Shaanxi Chemical Construction project team promptly organized the first safety lesson for resuming work, focusing on providing safety training regarding key risk areas such as lifting operations and concurrent work. It strictly verified that personnel performing special tasks had the necessary certifications, conducted a thorough inspection of the construction site, and carefully checked every critical aspect including safety measures, temporary power supply, fire protection facilities, and the installation of scaffolding. The team was committed to the principle of \"no resumption of work until safety is ensured, and no operations until all hazards are eliminated,\" ensuring that safety responsibilities were assigned to each individual and for every stage of the work process. To accelerate the resumption of work and production, the project department allocates personnel resources efficiently and dynamically optimizes team compositions based on construction requirements ； Ensure solid support in terms of supplies and materials, so that equipment and materials are delivered on time and as needed ； Strictly control the quality of engineering projects, with a focus on ensuring the construction quality of key processes. To date, all pipeline installations across the project site have been completed, as well as all electrical pre-embedding work in the substation building ； 81.98% of the assembly welding has been completed, 80.44% of the fabrication and installation of the semi-finished equipment is done, 53.51% of the steel structure installation is complete, and 71.63% of the equipment installation is finished. The project department will further clarify responsibilities, refine measures, and optimize the construction organization. While strictly adhering to the safety and quality standards, it will make every effort to accelerate the progress of the project and improve its efficiency, thereby contributing to the timely commissioning of the entire project. The Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Upgrade Demonstration Project is an upgrade and demonstration initiative carried out by Guoneng Baotou Coal Chemical Co., Ltd., building on the world’s first coal-to-olefins demonstration plant that has been in operation for many years. The site of this project is located in the newly planned southern area of Guoneng Baotou Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. within the Jiuyuan Industrial Park in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; it is connected to the first-phase coal-to-olefins plant to the north. The total investment in this project amounts to 17.15 billion yuan, with a production capacity of 2 million tons of methanol and 750,000 tons of polyolefins per year. By being planned in conjunction with new energy sources, this project aims to achieve deep integration between coal chemical processing and green electricity, green hydrogen, and green oxygen.
