Features of liquid sulfur filters

Why are liquid sulfur filters designed so that the fluid flows from the outside of the filter element to its inside, while it is said that in the latter case the fluid flows inward from the circumference of the cylindrical filter element?
I haven’t paid attention to the flow direction of the liquid sulfur filter. Replacing the filter from the outside in is simple; the key point is that there isn’t much to filter.
I’m also encountering such problems right now during communication with the designers; it’s troublesome!
