For European lighting and coal chemical PSA systems, is a water-ring vacuum pump or a belt-driven vacuum pump better? Which type is more commonly used, and what are the advantages of each?

The water ring vacuum pumps used in PSA systems I’ve come across before also used such pumps; as for why, I’m not sure. Let’s share our insights on the characteristics of each type

It is recommended to use water-ring types, as their failure rate and subsequent maintenance costs are much lower compared to reciprocating types.
PSAs do not require a very high level of vacuum – around 0.08 MPA is sufficient. What’s important is a large pumping capacity, and water ring pumps are the most suitable for this purpose; they virtually require no maintenance over several years!
This thing isn’t fun at all; you have to keep filling it with a big bucket of water to give it energy – is that interesting? :lol:lol:lol
Belt drive is the worst, but its biggest advantage is that it’s cheap!
