When selecting a pump, it is necessary to take into account the linear speed at the edge of the impeller of the centrifugal pump; there is an upper limit for this speed, as excessively high speeds lead to rapid wear. More professional pump design and manufacturing companies will conduct calculations during the selection process. I have seen pump selection documents from a foreign company, and one of the items included was reviewing the linear velocity of the impeller.
