I would like to ask the experts: how can one distinguish between a level gauge and an interface gauge?

The workshop’s wastewater treatment system is equipped with an extraction unit, but it has not operated properly throughout this entire period. I suspect that a regular level gauge is being used instead of an interfacial detector in the stratifier. Unfortunately, I have never seen how an interfacial detector actually functions; since the measurement instrument currently shows “LIT”, this is where my doubt arises.

A level gauge and a boundary level gauge are essentially the same thing; they are both used for measuring liquid levels through transmitters. The only difference lies in their installation height. It is said that adjustments also need to be made depending on the medium, such as oil or water, given their different densities. This is my personal understanding; I hope experts can provide further guidance
