In water-scarce areas of Inner Mongolia, cooling towers experience high water consumption once the cooling fans are started. What methods are available to reduce the amount of circulating water used?
A closed-type cooling tower can be used; it has a high initial investment cost, but lower operating costs later on. It is possible to switch between air cooling and water cooling modes, and its water loss is much less than that of an open-type tower
For open-type cooling towers, it is possible to control the temperature of the circulating water, increase the circulation rate, and reduce the amount of wastewater discharged.
There are many water-saving technologies for mechanically ventilated cooling towers, but all of them have technical limitations. Consider making modifications starting with the simplest approach: replace the existing corrugated plate dewaters with cyclone type water collectors, thereby increasing the reaction time of saturated steam during its upward movement and allowing for the recovery of more water droplets. This achieves the goal of increasing water conservation. The most important thing is that the renovation takes a short time, so it has little impact on production.
