1. General methods for addressing oil leakage in reducers. Common methods for fixing equipment oil leakage include adjustment, tightening, unclogging, sealing, plugging leaks, repair, part replacement, and modification. (1) Adjustment method: By adjusting the oil pressure in the hydraulic lubrication system to reduce the system pressure and adjusting the sliding bearings, the gap between the bearing holes and the shaft journals is decreased, thereby reducing leaks in various parts of the equipment caused by excessive overflow. Adjust the oil-scraping device, such as its tightness or looseness, as well as its height, in order to overcome oil leakage caused by the failure of this device. During the process of fixing leaks, adjustment should be considered first; only after ensuring that the fit between the relevant components is correct is it reasonable to resort to other methods for correction. (2) Tightening method: By tightening screws, nuts, pipe fittings, etc., at the leaking areas, oil leakage caused by loose connections can be eliminated. Generally, during the leak repair process, it is necessary to check the tightness of all connection points. During routine maintenance, operators must also pay attention to this issue; they are required to tighten any loose parts immediately in order to prevent oil leakage or other unexpected failures and accidents. (3) Dredging method: Ensuring smooth return of oil is an important measure for addressing oil leaks. On the oil return channel, if the oil return holes are too small, the design is unreasonable, or they are blocked by debris, it is necessary to enlarge these holes promptly, remove the debris, clear the blockages, or add new oil return hole channels. With unobstructed oil passages, the chances of lubricant leakage are reduced. (4) Sealing method: For pipe joints and box seams, sealant can be applied to achieve a tight seal and prevent leakage. Using the sealing method for leak repair features simplicity, significant effectiveness, low cost, and wide applicability. In general factories, 70–80% of the equipment can be repaired for leaks using the sealing method. (5) Plugging method: This method can be used to fix leaks, especially in castings with sand holes or perforations; for example, using epoxy resin to plug the sand holes in the casting body or the penetrated screw holes yields good results. Additionally, lead blocks and other materials can be used for sealing during leak repairs. (6) Repair method: For example, if the joint surface of the box lid is not tight, it should be repaired by scraping and lapping. When oil leakage occurs at the pipe joint due to an inappropriate oil tube flare, the oil tube flare should be repaired. Components of hydraulic lubrication control systems may experience external or internal oil leaks when they develop burrs, scratches, or deformation. When the problem is not serious, the oil leakage issue in this case can also be resolved through repair methods. (7) Replacement method: When oil leakage in the equipment is caused by worn seals or damaged components that cannot be repaired, these parts should be replaced. When replacing parts, care should be taken to ensure that the new part fits properly with the corresponding component. The original oil leakage problem was solved, but a new one has emerged. (8) Modification method: During the process of fixing leaks, it is sometimes necessary to eliminate the leakage issues in the equipment by improving the sealing materials, changing the fastening methods, replacing the lubricant, altering the oil return location, and enhancing the leak prevention measures. There are many methods for sealing leaks using modification techniques; it is important to ensure that the normal operation of the equipment is not affected, and that the original strength and stiffness of the equipment are not compromised. This aspect needs to be taken into consideration especially when measures such as adding oil return channels, enlarging screw holes, or installing oil collection trays are employed.
