This post was supposed to be posted in the Valves and Piping section, but it seems more related to air separation units; I’ll post it here instead, as there are more experts here! In the past, the outlet valves of oxygen compressors generally had high pressure on the inlet side and low pressure on the outlet side. Of course, the pressure and nominal diameter of these outlet valves were quite high. So, what should be the flow direction of the medium for the inlet and outlet valves of liquid oxygen pumps nowadays? Are there any criteria for selection? For the \"three standardizations\" of valves, and regarding the flow direction of globe valves, it must always be from top to bottom. When the stop valve is opened, the flow rate reaches its maximum when the opening height of the valve disc is 25% to 30% of the nominal diameter, indicating that the valve has reached its fully open position. The fully open position of the stop valve is determined by the travel of the valve disc. “Why was it named “Sanhua Ji”?
This post was last edited by czdeyy on 2015-6-30 at 12:40. Please install it in accordance with the flow direction markings on the valve. By the way, it seems the outlet valve of the liquid oxygen pump was installed in the wrong direction; check if this is specified in your technical requirements.
Do not rely too much on flow markers, as they may be inaccurate! Standard support would be ideal; I’ve looked for relevant standards and specifications, but they don’t provide any detailed information. I’m seeking the truth!
Is there any design rationale for installing the liquid oxygen pump outlet valve in reverse?
Installing the valve in reverse orientation is intended to improve its sealing performance when closed, but this increases the requirements for the packing. „Three modernizations\" refer to standardization, serialization, and universalization~~
Thank you. I also understand that reverse installation is done for sealing purposes; what I’m looking for is standard guidance – which types of valves can be installed in reverse? What kind of valves are not allowed to be installed in reverse? Is it determined by the valve manufacturer itself or required by the user?
