Dear marine friends, does anyone know what kind of sensor is used to detect a piston that is moving inside a sealed cylinder? If you know, please recommend one. Thank you! Our application works as follows: inside a vertical, sealed iron cylinder with a diameter of 70 mm (and cylinder wall thickness of 8 mm), there is an iron piston that moves up and down; the diameter of the piston is only 2 mm smaller than the diameter of the inner wall of the cylinder. It is now necessary to install a sensor on the outer surface of the cylinder, one that can detect when the piston reaches a certain height relative to the sensor, at which point the sensor sends out an alarm signal. Note that this cylinder barrel is sealed, with an internal pressure of 20 MPa; the cylinder walls cannot have any holes. Does anyone know what type of sensor can be used to detect this? Thank you!

Perhaps I didn’t explain clearly our application environment; firstly, our cylinder barrel is a sealed one with a thickness of 8 mm, which provides shielding against magnetic fields. Will it also shield the magnetic field of the travel switch? ? Could you recommend the brands and models of magnetic limit switches that you commonly use? I’ll look up some information
