If the fluid being measured is a liquid, it is generally required that the flow be directed horizontally downward. This is done to prevent the measurement tube of the flowmeter from becoming filled with liquid, thereby avoiding any impact on the accuracy of measurement due to two-phase flow.
Different installation methods for different media: downward, upward, flag-style installation
I read in the installation instructions that for liquids with high-temperature media, the gauge should be installed with the dial facing downward when horizontal – why is that?
I have some doubts about this. For high-temperature media, in order to prevent solidification or to facilitate drainage, a flag-style installation (side installation) is generally used； The main issue that lower garments are designed to address is what everyone has mentioned earlier: preventing air from remaining and affecting the measurements.
